Warhol

Exactly. Liking Warhol, or claiming to, is 'cool.' But I think Warhol's aim was to break out of traditional notions of cool and uncool anyway. Not all his stuff is amazing... but the good stuff is outstanding and very original. I saw some of his works displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and was struck by how tacky and materialistic our lives have become. I think that's often the point he's trying to make.
it's just like what Warhol said 'I am deeply suerficial'
What other famous people could be described in these terms? Madonna? Martha Stewart? Snoop Dog? Clarence Thomas? What class would that put Warhol into? Will any of these people be remembered in a hundred years?
i'm sure there are a few who fall into this category.
i guess Warhol had a much different outlook on life whilst also being in the mainstream media, but without them media really recognizing this.
he's a very fascinating person.
